With the tenons completed, the mortices were next. Same process as before, drill press and forstner bits. Once all that was completed, I dry fit the pieces together to make sure all was good.
Since the sides are enclosed, I decided to use 1/2″ birch to give rigidity, but not too much weight. Since the plywood is not quite 1/2″, setting up the stacked dado was a but more fiddly than usual. The dado accepts the plywood, and from the profile it looks like an I-beam. Should be plenty strong.
No glue yet, still dry fitting for now, the frame around the drawers has to be constructed next, and I think it will go easier if I don’t final assemble the frame and legs for now.
