Small Cedar Box Using Reclaimed Wood

A quick, simple project using scraps from the Planter Project.  These pieces would normally end up in the trash because of the knot holes, but instead of throwing them away I deceided to salvage them.  There is a lot of character to this wood, the knots are a almost black and the grain really stands out.

Tape was placed on the backside of each hole and 5 minutes epoxy was used to fill the cavity.  Once dried, the pieces were sanded smooth.  The joints are simple miters held together with yellow glue.  Sanded smooth and an amber shellac was applied in several coats with a light sanded between applications.

This is not intended to be a refined piece, I intentionally left the “character” in place.
