Hi, great job on this Makita planer! It gives me confidence to try the following. I want to bring one back to Costa Rica in my checked luggage. Can you estimate if I pulled off the sides, the top and the motor, would that leave the base at less than 40 or so pounds? I need to get the thing into enough pieces that they each weigh enough to ship as checked luggage. And not so many pieces that I break something or it takes forever to reassemble. Thanks again for posting your process of restoring the planer. That’s awesome. Thanks, Rich
Hi, thanks for the comment. I honestly have no idea, but most of the weight is in the motor/roller assemble. I must be less than 40lbs, but I cannot be certain of that.
